DON'T MISS
A visit to Genoa Bay would not be complete without a meal at Genoa Bay Café. Perched on the water's edge overlooking the marina, the café offers five-star cuisine in a casual atmosphere. It has 40 indoor seats and another 30 on the seaside deck. From 2005 to 2009, Ben operated Genoa Bay Café. In 2010, after some remodeling, the cafe was reopened under the operation of Stacey Johnson, Dan Caird and Gord Rumley...

Review of Genoa Bay Cafe by Eat Magazine

Eat Magazine Review:

Genoa Bay Café

If you are driving hill & dale exploring the Cowichan Valley, and you want to "discover" the most picture-perfect spot, at the end of the world, for killer mussels and frites, I know the place. Genoa Bay Café [5000 Genoa Bay Road, Unit #9, Duncan Tel: 250-746-7621] is located at Mile Zero. You cannot go any further along the road or you will end up in the drink surrounded by bobbing sail boats. This charming little bistro is on the pier in a romantic-looking weathered clapboard cottage, and hiddey-ho, the food rocks! The chef has a pedigree. Chef Dave Cartner hails from Vancouver. He was the chef at popular Bin 941 and did a longtime run at Chateau Whistler. Owners Gord Rumley and Stacey Johnston work the floor; the service is crisp, fun and informative. The menu is simple but huge on fresh local flavours and the execution is deft, the presentation pleasing to the eye. The place is always packed. The locals have kept this spot to themselves far too long. Not anymore.

When in Genoa Bay
There is blissfully little to do in Genoa Bay except enjoy the sun, relax, chat with neighbors, explore by dingy or dine at The Genoa Bay Cafe - one of the best little restaurants anywhere. Perched above the marina, the cafe offers a fine selection of Pacific Rim cuisines...

When in Genoa Bay
Tucked under the steep treed slope of Mt. Tzuhalem, Genoa Bay is one of our favourite places to hang out on the West Coast. For us, returning here is like coming home. Owner-operators and brothers, Ben and Will Kiedaisch, maintain a friendly laid-back atmosphere at Genoa Bay Marina that is hard to find anywhere. This is the place where we relax, chat with fellow boaters or, best yet, share a meal with friends at The Genoa Bay Café.

Our first shore duty upon arriving at Genoa Bay is to make reservations for the evening meal at the rustic café hanging on the rocks above the marina. The Genoa Bay Café has changed hands since our last visit. Chef Dave Cartner's menu features northwest fare and local organic produce. Call 250-746-7621 for reservations.

We had a fantastic paddle to Genoa Bay Café for dinner last night. The food is as good as ever at the cafe, we enjoyed the seasonal risotto, duck and the most amazing halibut dish! Yum yum!

Mother's Day? Try their brunch at the Genoa Bay Café. A great chef, here, and worth the few minutes drive from Maple Bay to Genoa Bay, on Southern Vancouver Island. Right at seaside, with the docks and boats to entice you, this gem is open for lunch and dinner -- reservations recommended. It's now a "discovered secret". Enjoy!

Genoa Bay

This delightful piece of paradise tucked into a natural harbour on the northeastern shore of Cowichan Bay is the "kind of place sailors, wooden boaters, romantics and intelligent sentimentalists hold close to their hearts," wrote noted European travel writer and sailor Ferenc Máté.

Genoa Bay Marina has a full range of facilities for sailors including a marina store and "office on the go" business and internet services. Bonus: The Genoa Bay Café, frequently cited as one of the better (and certainly most charming) restaurants in the Cowichan Valley. Known for its clam chowder, fish and chips, seafood dishes, and dessert menu.

Fantastic food, fantastic service and views that can't be beat! We have dined at the Genoa Bay Café on numerous occasions and each time everything has been just perfect. From the welcoming, friendly staff, to the superb food presentation and the delicious meals, to a spectacular oceanfront location, we highly recommend it.

Under new ownership, with Gord and Stacey to greet and serve, it couldn't be run by more dedicated, fun and upbeat people.

The chef is amazing, with lots of experience in the best restaurants in BC.

Well done Genoa Bay Café ... can't wait to go back!
